Sri Lanka’s military opened fire to contain rioting at a fuel station, officials said Sunday as unprecedented queues for petrol and diesel were seen across the bankrupt country.

Troops fired in Visuvamadu, 365 kilometres (228 miles) north of Colombo, on Saturday night as their guard point was pelted with stones, army spokesman Nilantha Premaratne said.

“A group of 20 to 30 people pelted stones and damaged an army truck,” Premaratne told AFP.

Police said four civilians and three soldiers were wounded when the army opened fire for the first time to quell unrest linked to the worsening economic crisis.

As the pump ran out of petrol, motorists began to protest and the situation escalated into a clash with troops, police said.

Sri Lanka is suffering its worst economic crisis since independence, with the country unable to find dollars to import essentials, including food, fuel and medicines.

The nation’s 22 million population has been enduring acute shortages and long queues for scarce supplies while President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has for months resisted calls to step down over mismanagement.

Sri Lanka has deployed armed police and troops to guard fuel stations.

A motorist was shot dead by police in April at the central town of Rambukkana when a clash erupted over the distribution of rationed petrol and diesel.

Police said clashes involving motorists erupted at three locations over the weekend. At least six constables were wounded in one clash while seven motorists were arrested.

The government declared a two-week shutdown of state institutions and schools in a bid to reduce commuting and conserve depleting fuel stocks in the impoverished nation.

The country is also facing record high inflation and lengthy power blackouts, all of which have contributed to months of protests.

As you may recall, ten days ago I warned that rail carriers were declaring “force majeure” and halting shipments of grain to dairy herds and other cow herds across America. In that announcement, I also warned that this was an engineered collapse of the food supply, where rail carriers were essentially being ordered to drop certain loads in order to maximize the coming wave of food scarcity and famine.

Now, devastating news from CF Industries — one of the largest fertilizer producers in the world — confirms the engineered food collapse plan is being expanded to include fertilizer shipments.

According to an April 14th announcement from CF Industries, Union Pacific is halting the delivery of fertilizer shipments right in the middle of peak planting season for farmers. CF Industries warns that, “railroad-mandated shipping reductions [will] result in nitrogen fertilizer shipment delays during the spring application season and that it [will] be unable to accept new rail sales involving Union Pacific for the foreseeable future.”

Even more alarmingly, CF Industries warns that, “it is one of only 30 companies to face these restrictions.”

This means that Union Pacific is essentially dropping fertilizer shipments and grain shipments all across America. Put another way, America’s food infrastructure is being deliberately shut down.

The implications of this are nothing short of catastrophic. It affects not just fertilizer but also DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) which is necessary for all tractors, transportation trucks, construction equipment and other machinery that use diesel engines. As CF Industries explains:

CF Industries ships to customers via Union Pacific rail lines primarily from its Donaldsonville Complex in Louisiana and its Port Neal Complex in Iowa. The rail lines serve key agricultural areas such as Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and California. Products that will be affected include nitrogen fertilizers such as urea and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) as well as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), an emissions control product required for diesel trucks. CF Industries is the largest producer of urea, UAN and DEF in North America, and its Donaldsonville Complex is the largest single production facility for the products in North America.

Without DEF, you can’t run tractors. And to the “Green New Deal” lunatics who think that halting all diesel engines will magically make the world green (while they absurdly try to suck all the CO2 out of the atmosphere, which will kill all plants, by the way), you’re about to experience the starvation, chaos and violence that comes from shutting down agriculture. Good luck to all.

If two masks are better than one, are three masks better than two?

The answer coming in from the “public health expert” class is a resounding yes.

This week, CNBC anchor Shep Smith opened up a new frontier on the cloth front.

In a “special report” for CNBC, Smith launched into a monologue praising “experts” like lifetime bureaucrat Anthony Fauci and his new guidance to wear two masks instead of one. Shep claimed that double masking is important because we have new variants coming into the country and claimed, without evidence, that they are more contagious, and that masks can block them.

Fauci, for his part, has only been wearing one mask or no mask over the course of the past year. Fauci has moved from dismissing the efficacy of masks entirely to swearing by them in the span of months. He now advocates wearing two masks in the name of The Science™.

“Put another layer on. It just makes common sense,” Fauci said earlier this week in advancing his baseless commentary that is grounded in nothing whatsoever.

In his CNBC segment, however, Shep Smith took the mask advocacy to even greater heights, appearing to one-up Fauci himself in promoting the “science” of wearing three masks. Not one, not two, but three masks to stop COVID-19.

“Since the start of the pandemic, experts have urged us to do three things: wash our hands, maintain our distance, and wear a mask.” Smith started. “But now the experts say … it’s time to double up and wear two.”

Shep continued, suggesting that stopping at two masks is for amateurs.

Smith then turned to his correspondent, who claimed that based on some random academic model out of Virginia Tech, double masking boosts your protection level to 75%(!). No, there are no studies to confirm this.

“Doubling up these cloth masks increases the efficacy from 50 to 75%,” said correspondent Contesse Brewer.

But wait, there’s more.

CNBC then displayed a graphic advertising going even further, claiming that wearing three masks boost you up to 90% protection levels! “Three layers … could block up to 90% of the particles,” Brewer commented.

https://www.cnbc.com/video/2021/01/25/is-a-double-mask-really-better-than-a-single.html

All of these disposable masks may seems kind of expensive, but don’t worry, CNBC suggested a solution for stocking up – Buy them from China!

“The chinese version, KN95 masks are widely available .... I bought these on Amazon. I wore them through the airport,” Brewer added.

Of course, this whole segment was patently insane and baseless. America has already adopted a far higher threshold than universal masking standards, and universal masking has done absolutely nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

Still, CNBC is not alone. Several “public health experts” and public health institutions have taken to advocating for three layers, or three masks, since around the end of Fall.

It’s worth recalling that there is no actual scientific evidence that masks work to stop the spread of a submicroscopic infectious particle, which in this case, is the virus known as SARS-CoV-2.. There are a lot of hypotheses about how masks could work, but there is no data to confirm these academic models. In fact, the limited randomized controlled trial data (see: Danish mask study) that we have available shows that masks do not do anything at all to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

The City Council of Olympia is proud of their accomplishments. They have done an excellent job promoting and raising taxes at every opportunity. They frequently tout their environmental agenda and virtue signal their concern about global warming on a regular basis. This makes them feel good about themselves. Recently, they have been able to combine increasing taxes with their environmental agenda by creating approved, taxpayer subsidized addict/homeless camps downtown. It isn’t clear to outside observers how this helps the environment, but it certainly squanders tax dollars.

On the City of Olympia’s official website, this is the photo header for the City Council, which many residents feel is appropriate because when they try to approach the Olympia City Council to address real problems in the city, this is what residents see.
When combined with Olympia’s widely touted sanctuary city status, and the public promotion of “low incarceration rates” this effort turned the City of Olympia into a destination paradise for drug addicts, sex offenders, fugitives, and illegal aliens from all over the nation. This has become an achievement worthy of state-wide (and even national) recognition. To further subsidize the effort the city council pushed a homeless tax earlier this year (which this author opposed and wrote the “con” statement in the voter’s pamphlet). These additional tax dollars were used to boost the addict/homeless programs expanding to great effect now.

From a flyer distributed by local addict/homeless advocates around the country – note the second from bottom point – “Low incarceration rate in Downtown Olympia.” This is a real feature and selling point to recruit more addicts to join the fun in Olympia.

It is difficult to adequately communicate just how hard the City of Olympia has worked to bring features like this to the urban core (Photo of “Cooperville” named after councilmember Jim Cooper).
This success has become a jewel in the crown for Washington State’s capital city. In a few weeks, the state’s part time legislature will be back in session – focused primarily on pushing full-time tax increases, however, the legislators may need to leave the city for meals because, oddly enough, many of the local businesses are closing. It turns out, as shocking as it might seem to the Olympia City Council, most normal people don’t want to fight their way through drug dealers, addicts, used needles, sidewalk feces, and aggressive panhandlers on their way to a quick bite at the café. While these experiences add a little excitement to the daily routine, not everyone enjoys the scene.

Addict/homeless camps like this help add a more traditional urban flavor to the City of Olympia. City taxpayers subsidize this. (Photo from “Bateman Motel” named after Councilmember Jessica Bateman)
Local businesses, of course, can’t rely on the Olympia Police department to maintain law and order (remember “low incarceration”). Additionally, since the police can’t guarantee the safety of the private security company these local businesses had hired – this means local businesses are now entirely on their own. Their isolation has only increased as a local Evergreen College based “progressive” mob called Olympia Solidarity felt that businesses attempting to prevent addicts from dumping used needles behind your business, defecating in front of their stores, and sleeping in front of their store entrances was unacceptable. The “OlySol” mob has threatened and intimidated enough people to ensure they (along with their allies – the local drug dealers) run the streets now.

Who wouldn’t want this next to their business? Any Olympia business owners who complain about feature benefits like this are just whiners (Photo from “Cooperville” camp)
The business owners attempted to get an emergency court order to stop the rapid expansion of these addict/homeless camps, but the court ultimately rejected their effort. The descent from a beautiful state capital city into a proud 3rd world tent city slum town is progressing rapidly. The Olympia City Council, Evergreen College students, and the plethora of non-profits who extract tax dollars and grants to “help the homeless” are cheering this descent.

This is an “unsanctioned” addict/homeless camp, but the city lets them squat regardless. Many of these camps have been nicknamed “Jonestown” after Mayor Pro/Tem Nathanial Jones
Oddly enough, there once was a strong environmental movement in Olympia who spent much of their time agonizing over how to stop rural residents of Thurston County from building porches or barns for fear of “ruining the environment.” Yet, when massive garbage piles filled with used syringes, discarded materials stolen from their homes by local homeless addicts, and human waste is being dumped directly onto their streets and parks and into their water– they say not a word. The sound of Gang Green’s silence is deafening by itself.

Green spaces and trails in Olympia are becoming more colorful under Olympia’s new addict/homeless camp subsidies and growth scheme.
Local Progressives are high-fiving this improvement to the City of Olympia. Regular people have begun to avoid the city and its new pungent addict/homeless camp additions, which is probably why businesses are also leaving or shutting down.

Used needles are a common sight decorating Olympia’s streets, parks, and sidewalks. Fortunately, the local needle exchange program gives out millions of needles locally per year so there is a ready supply to renew the ones that get removed by Olympia’s “Clean Team.”
To prove the old adage that misery loves company, the City of Olympia is pushing to expand the addict/homeless camp program into nearby cities of Tumwater and Lacey (see recent Olympian editorial here). After all, it is going so well for Olympia – who wouldn’t want more of this? While both those cities share political sympathy with the Olympia City Council, it is not yet clear they want to jump on the crazy train with Olympia as the train conductor.

These booty-ful bottoms, some in stone-washed denim, were teamed with retro-inspired suede blazers, body-hugging polo shirts, turtlenecks — both boldly printed and solid — and cool-looking kicks.

Models also carried handbags over their right shoulders that varied from nylon drawstring sacks to smaller leather styles.

“It’s sexy on boys, no?” Prada told the Guardian of her thigh-high new looks.

by fishychick
There have been a series of changes recently at this website, all of them seem to be geared toward shutting down certain types of discussions. I was banned for insisting that asking about Jeff Bauman's miraculous survival was a legitimate medical question - based on my medical training and back up with the opinion of an orthopedic surgeon.
I suspect the site has been sold, and the former owner is now just there for the sake of keeping up appearances. He posts the most banal topics now, and rather than "strike the root" of the tyranny beast, he is now stopping all disucssion of Israel, unless you can prove to him that you live there. This comment is in the reply section of the thread:
"The other advantage of being the Mayor is the ability
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Sat, 09/28/2013 - 00:45. Permalink
to spontaneously make new laws, with a few keystrokes.
I have created a new law: The only people who are allowed to talk about Israel on here are people who live in Israel (and that must be proven to me to my satisfaction).
This is a new and special rule, promulgated by the Mayor of the Daily Paul, Michael Nystrom."
Further down, he explains the rationale:
"Because people arguing about Israel is fucking BORING!
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Sat, 09/28/2013 - 00:29. Permalink
GO DO IT SOMEPLACE ELSE.
I DON'T GIVE A SHIT!"
I sincerely hope this is merely a sign that Nystrom sold his site and not that he truly does not understand why a discussion of Israel needs to be had, even if it bores him. I am honestly a little worried about him, something happened after Boston. But losing this website to the Israel-firsters is a serious blow to truth, and a sad thing to see happen to a friend.
Maryland boy suspended for gun-shaped pastry is now lifetime NRA membertag:12160.info,2013-05-31:2649739:Topic:12101872013-05-31T02:10:44.005Ztruthhttps://12160.info/profile/adap2k

He presented the gift to the second-grader Wednesday night.

The boy's lawyer, Robin Ficker, said he is appealing the two-day school suspension that started on March 1 when Welch ate away part of his Pop-Tart during class snack time so that it resembled a gun shape.

In the appeal, Ficker included pictures of the U.S. states of Idaho and Florida because "they look more like guns than Josh's Pop-Tart."
yahoo.com
The Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesman, Bob Mosier, declined to comment on the status of the appeal.

Ficker said the NRA membership gift was a great idea for the boy, who "is a good kid, a little rambunctious," because it would teach him proper handling of firearms.
Why 3D Printing?

The product development landscape has evolved tremendously over the last 20 years.

Product designs have become much more complex in both their shape and functionality, while the need of reducing time-to-market has increased

The evolution of CAD Solid Modeling and computer technologies have brought forth a new way to produce prototypes know as Rapid Prototyping (RP).

Where it once took many weeks and lots of money to produce a prototype of a design, with RP it is now commonplace to produce the same prototype in a matter of hours for a fraction of the cost.

This evolution of RP has afforded companies the ability to verify and change designs more often while spending less time and money doing so. The end result is a product that:

Works the first time
Costs less to design and manufacture
Takes less time to design and manufacture
Meets customer demands
Gets to the market faster

How It Works

There are a number RP technologies on the market, all work under the same fundamental principals.

Solid Modeled CAD data, in a specific file format (STL), is processed and oriented in an optimal build position.
The data is then sent to the RP machine where it is numerically sliced into thin layers.
The RP machine then fabricates each 2-dimensional cross section and bonds it to the previous layer. A complete prototype is therefore built by stacking layer upon layer until the prototype is completed.

Uses for RP Models
Models produced by Rapid Prototyping can go far beyond engineering form, fit and functional models.

Today, RP models can be used as:

Patterns for other tooling and manufacturing process.
Focus group models for sales analysis
Marketing models to create literature and ad campaigns,
Quoting Models – Sent to the manufacturer in addition to CAD data to help reduce tooling costs
BitCoins are now a big BUY!!
(TLS)- For A long while I was skeptical of bitcoin I always thought there would be some flaw that might scrap the system. I like so many are really mad at ourselves right now for not taking the plunge into bitcoin last year sometime. If you think $100 a bitcoin is high you haven't seen anything yet. I expect the currency to double before years end.

You can see in the chart some big money jumps in around $50 a BTC (bitcoin) Over $350,000,000 has jumped into BTC since the beginning of the year. Bitcoin has now taken root I don't see this as a fad at all but a consequence of the global markets and the fear now in the EU of confiscation of deposits in regular banks. What happened in Cyprus is now going to be the standard bailout method in the EU. If this occurs in Portugal or Spain next BTC will skyrocket even more so than it is now. People are desperate for a currency that big brother can't steal with the click of a button and BTC is now that currency.

Beyond being a currency it is now in my eyes an investment, a commodity even. A currency that you can hold anonymously, spend anonymously and have appreciate in value anonymously. This is really the currency of the revolution! Now is the time to buy.
