Faversham is a nice little - and typically English - market town in the South East county of Kent - full of antique and collectable shops - that as far has not been 'culturally enriched' - although this event is not a good sign for the future.
If you ever lived or spent time in the UK up until the millennium, you would have likely remembered the jars of Robertson's jam and marmalade that bore the Golly mascot on the label, dressed in different outfits and up to various activities.
If you collected these tokens and sent them off to Robertson's, they would send you back really nice little enamel pin badges - some of these are very rare and collectible - and it was a very British piece of memorabilia.
The Crown Prosecution Service has previously said it would get involved if sale of the gollywogs* caused “harassment or alarm”.
Oh quelle surprise, because there aren't any real crimes going on in England anymore...the state police would rather focus on thought criminals.
* No, I am not going to censor it for you...
