The Establishment has perfected its machination of propaganda, creating the realities it wants into society, forming whatever truth that will be of the greatest benefit, not to society, but to itself. Whatever reality it wants to create and disseminate is quickly absorbed by a population eager to feed off the mammary glands of television. The Establishment, the corporate world and government have for years told us how and what to think, how to act, who to obey and where to follow, condemning our minds to obedience, our lives to conformism and silent acquiescence.

All those hundreds of TV channels may lead you that there’s a true diversity and variety in today’s television … but you’d be wrong. A handful of large companies control what you see, hear, and read every day.

Let’s take a look at who owns what on television – here are the TV channels owned by 6 of the largest companies in media, as depicted by their logos:

General Electric is a true behemoth: the conglomerate is the world’s third largest company with market capitalization of nearly $370 billion and annual revenue of $173 billion (2007). The company produces practically everything – from aircraft engine to locomotives to medical devices.

GE’s media holding includes television networks NBC and Telemundo, 27 television stations in the United States and many cable TV networks, including the History Channel, A&E, and Sci Fi Channel. It also owns the popular web-based TV website Hulu.

Update: December 3, 2009General Electric and Comcast announced a joint venture worth a combined $37.25 billion on that will give the cable company eventual control of NBC Universal.

Time Warner is the world’s largest media and entertainment company – it owns major operations in film, TV, print, Internet, and telecommunications. Time Warner has an annual revenue of $50.5 billion (2008) – the equivalent of the entire GDP of Luxembourg.

Like cartoons? Time Warner’s got you covered with Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Classic movies? Check (Turner Classic Movies). And who can forget CNN and Headline News? Both are Time Warner properties. (Note: CW is co-owned by Time Warner and CBS).

You may associate it with amusement parks, but The Walt Disney Company has grown to be one of the world’s largest media and entertainment corporation since its founding as an animation studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney in 1923.

The Walt Disney Company owns the ABC television network, with more 200 affiliated stations reaching nearly 100% of all U.S. television market, as well as dozens of niche cable networks. True to its cartoon animation origin, Disney captures its viewers early – it counts millions of young children as its audience with kids channels like the Disney Channel.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation is a behemoth: it is the largest media company in the world by market capitalization ($38 billion). For most people, the conservative news channel Fox comes foremost to mind when asked what they think of Murdoch’s media empire – but the company’s holding is far larger: it includes Asia’s Star TV Network, the National Geographic Channel and even the iconic TV Guide network.

Don’t watch TV? Even if you prefer to browse the Internet, most likely you’ve visited News Corp’s property, which include Hulu (owned in partnership with GE through its subsidiary NBC Universal) and the social networking giant MySpace.

CBS(which used to stand for the Columbia Broadcasting System) is not sometimes called the Tiffany Network for nothing: the company is known for its high programming quality. It is currently the most watched television network in the United States, and reached more than 103 million homes in the country.

Both CBS and Viacom (see below) are owned by multi-billionaire Sumner "content is king" Redstone, through his holding company National Amusements.

Viacom stands for "Video and Audio Communication" – and true to that name, the company owns a large number of cable and satellite television networks (the company was split from CBS Corporation in 2005, though both have the same majority owner).

It was showing what the engineers are going through to try and fix this gaping hole. I have been in construction forever and as I got wiser I realized that architects and engineers only have " desk experience " , one stated that "its like trying to fix something on the moon" maybe they should call NASA for some more ideas, or find an engineer that actually worked on a oil rig and not one that created this problem.

One more thing. When they drill for gas or oil (this is something i learned recently) they have to fill the void to keep it from collapsing on itself. What do they fill it with?
Well.... if it is on land, nice clean water.... wtf. If it is in the ocean, sea-water. So while this giant hole is dumping millions of gallons of oil into the gulf nothing is being put back. What is going to happen? I can only imagine it will collapse........ I am just grasping at staws for I am just a peasant, but things are about to get much worse. I can see a massive wave flowing right over Florida....... This whole thing is just obsured. All they need is for this to happen, and forced evacuations, nowhere for any of them to go, Riots, marshall Law, surveilence is already in place, shut down the internet, feed us lie after lie.......... I say shot first and ask for the truth never because you'll never get it anyway.

Comment by john on June 16, 2010 at 6:54pm: something dawned on me yesterday. This whole oil disaster is being powerfully televised and shown to us 24/7, just like 911. Meanwhile lots of other atrocities are occuring everywhere, and you don't hear or see much of it at all. There was just a nat.gas well that blew out in Clearfield county PA 2 days ago..... no news on that 1 or the others that have blown in the past who knows how many years. I saw a documentary awhile back that showed one from miles away shooting fire 100's of feet into the air. The site is gone now, pending the release of the Documentary Gasland here soon http://www.gaslandthemovie.com/ The thing is the gulf is ruined period. From what i have read , there is pretty much no way to stop it now. The pipe is broke who knows how far down, the sand and sediment is just eroding the rest of what is left of the well to nothing, and the oil is spewing into the bottom of the gulf and coming up everywhere. we aren't capable of fixing it, BP doesn't really want to plug it permanately there is to much$ tied up in it already, they want to find a way to collect it and get their money. The only possible shot of stopping it is supposedly dropping a nuke on it and imploding it, turning it into a giant melted molten rock and glass cap, and that is a gamble nobody high up is willing to take and let us sheeple know about it.
Seems to me that everything in the world is coming to a head and they (elite) are making it happen and using it to force us to believe what they want so they can push the whole world in the direction that they want to go.
Global warming, pollution , oil, war. Blow up a rig in the gulf to force us to want to stop using fossil fuels. After watching oil spewing from a well at the bottom of the gulf 24/7 via live HD camera, some ppl are going to say "I feel horrible" I don't want to drive my car anymore" "We need to do our part" "Lets move into the city and walk or ride a bike, we can take the bus" Yeah I am disgusted w/ everthing but when they come and TRY to take my guns, force me to move to some concrete jungle and be surveiled everywhere i go, and get chipped, I will not protest peacfully. The time for peaceful protest is past, we have waited to long and it just isn't going to happen. No matter what we do they are going to fight us w/ force and make us do what they want us to do. The whole thing ( i feel ) is planned, no matter how horrible it is I don't believe it was an accident anymore. If you look at the world and all events as a whole, it is almost so obviously planned and played out It is just to much of a coincidence to be an accident. Forceful evacuations of the gulf coast is next, when the hurricanes come and pick up all that toxic crap and rain it down on the whole eastern half of the US, there goes all chance of survival w/out modern conveniences. Forget the farms, gardens, animals, water, pretty much all of nature will be destroyed. I am sure that if they really wanted to contain the spill and keep it as clean as possible they could. Instead ppl are just out there dispersing it floating around in boats collecting worthless Dollars and not doing a damn thing. How many jobs are going to be created to clean up the mess. That is a hell of a way to create jobs during an Economic crisis. Kinda like 9/11. Steal workers have all kinds of high paying jobs building the freedom tower, COPS (pigs) are needed even more to help w/ our terrorist threats (that don't exist) All these lies just keep tying together to form this huge web of control. Blow something up, create this giant national problem and then we can all work together to fix it, and in the mean time give up your freedoms, so you can create jobs and save the economy(banksters) from going bust. makes total sense
