CLEVELAND (AP) -- The trial for five white Cleveland police supervisors charged with failing to control a high-speed car chase that ended in the deaths of two unarmed black people is moving to a mostly black suburb.
It won't be held in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County. County prosecutor Tim McGinty on Monday said East Cleveland officials contacted his office about trying the case after a white Cleveland patrolman was acquitted in May of felony charges for his role in a deadly 137-shot barrage of police gunfire. The acquittal sparked protests among blacks.
More than 93 percent of East Cleveland's residents are black; 30 percent of Cuyahoga County's residents are black.
