U.S. Border Patrol agents in Texas recently arrested a Mexican man with a criminal history in Idaho.
Antonio Beltran-Ayala, who was convicted of felony rape of a victim under 18 years of age in Gooding, Idaho, in 2006, was apprehended near a ranch in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Sunday, according to a news release. The Mexican national was sentenced to serve up to four years in prison for the rape and was subsequently deported. He was also deported in 2014 and 2015.
Following Tuesday’s arrest, Beltran-Ayala was charged with illegal re-entry after deportation. He faces up to 20 years in prison and his prior order of removal will be reinstated, according to the news release.
Del Rio Border Patrol Sector agents have apprehended eight previously deported sex offenders in recent months, according to the news release.
