Both E-ZPass customers and non-customers are getting e-mails, claiming they haven't paid the toll or that they need to replenish their account.
The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has issued a warning about the bogus messages and is advising people to ignore them.
The bogus e-mails come from the E-ZPass Service Center — or something that sounds similar — and mention an invoice. Part of the body of the message is in E-ZPass's trademark purple, giving it an air of legitimacy.
Commission spokesman Brian Newbacher told the Free Press they received about a dozen complaints about the suspicious e-mails.
