The last traces of Santa Clarita’s former red-light camera program are set to be removed in the coming weeks, city officials said Tuesday.
Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. — the firm that operated the program before it was discontinued by a Santa Clarita City Council vote in March — has hired a contractor to remove the poles and infrastructure left over from the red-light camera program, according to city spokeswoman Gail Morgan.
That work started last week, Morgan said, and is expected to continue over the next two to four weeks.
“We’re hoping by the end of July that all the infrastructure for all the red-light cameras at all the intersections will be down,” said Mark Hunter, a transportation planning analyst with the city of Santa Clarita.
