Deep Space 1st LIVE Comedy Performance

Deep Space 1st LIVE Comedy Performance

Well what can I say?
I was nervous as shit.

Essentially I had that adrenaline rush flowing through me like you get, when you almost just get killed in a car accident.

But I STILL managed to pull it off.

I'm pleased with being able  to perform
DESPITE the *intense* nerves.

I sure as Hell hope it gets easier as.

Anyhow, the video / audio quality is dogshit.. (sorry)

If anyone wants to see these bits, where you can actually understand every word, watch the following videos:

1) DEEP SPACE PREMATURE EJACULATION (Preview Of Intro For My 1st LIVE Stand-Up Comedy Performance)
http://youtu.be/gc13WZL-Gnc

2) It Is What It Is...

3) Shocking Siamese Twins High On Shrooms
http://youtu.be/ZCyt0r9qCSs

(I had to do an abbreviated version of the 'Siamese Twins' (Harry & Larry) bit, to meet the 5-minute time constraint)

Having said that, I would note, that it is a bit, that I really love & want to evolve further.

On the down side, I had to perform nearly dead last for a nearly 3-hour show; and by the time I was called up, most people had left & a good chunk of the remaining ones were burnt out and shut down.

(Hence the laugh tracking)

But I felt it was a solid 1st-time performance,
and wanted to share anyway.

Hopefully next time I will get called up earlier.

Anyhow, thanx everyone for the support & kind words you've shared..
I really appreciate it!

Sorry no social commentary yet.
Don't wanna scare away the zombies.

Gonna have to bait 'n' switch them
as time goes on . ;)

Cheers!

Right on... woot! Awesome first go at stand-up comedy my friend. I give you the biggest kudos for doing what most people would never have the guts to do. I respect and admire anyone that can get up in front of a live audience and create laughter (medicine for the soul). Keep on keeping on DS. You've put a smile on my face and made me laugh on numerous occassions... even though at times you can be one funny but sick bastard ;) I say that with much love and respect btw :)

Thanx guys. I used to perform music (90 - 92). Lead vocals / keyboards. My band band was nominated one the top 10 original bands in Connecticut. (New Haven & Hartford Register). I was never nervous. But stand-up is whole different animal. You're totally naked & alone. I think the primary Lesson I learned is to not give a frig about the audience at all. To quote one my favorite all-time speakers Anthony deMello:

" My business is to do my thing, to dance my dance. If you profit from it fine; if you don’t, too bad! As the Arabs say, "The nature of rain is the same, but it makes thorns grow in the marshes and flowers in the gardens."

:)

Awesome quote and one to live by :)

Damn... I've been in quite a few original bands and never have gotten that kind of status. I got to open for Foghat though, lol. That was many moons ago and did I mention it was many?

I hear ya about stand-up being a whole other animal. You wouldn't see me getting my arse up there in front of a live audience to make them laugh. The only time I make people laugh usually is by accident. I'm a bit of a klutz both physically and verbally you see. I have a tendency to walk into inanimate objects and have diarrhea of the mouth at times. I have been laughed at, laughed with and laughed at myself so it's all good! :)

BTW... my band is going fully original now. We lost our drummer... long story. I've been working on a new song in the last week actually. And I've got an acoustic project going. WOOT!

"That kind of status" ---- mmmm did I mention it was Connecticut? LOL!

I always resisted covers. The very few ones that I did do, I and the band made them OURS.

(i.e. our style & not mere clones)

Walking into inanimate objects is fine.

(just be sure to select ones that are as soft as possible)

Anyhow really looking forward to hearing your new stuff. BTW King's X is one of my all-time favs. I've seen King's X on 12160 before. One of the most under-rated bands of all-time.

Yeah, King's X rocks. As you say, it must be very different to be a solo act, but, is the high the same when you finish? Nothing like that high!

I only performed comedy once & I was too damn nervous to notice any "high". With music, I didn't experience any performance high either. I guess I'm sorta a stoic in that regard. I just focus on what I gotta do & do it to the best of my ability. I do get a "high" when I finish a video that I like and get all giddy & anxious to share it with others though... Cheers!
