Despite sequestration, DHS still spending millions of dollars on weapon parts

By James Smith

8 March 2013

President Obama made no bones about the ill effects of the budget cutting plan that he created, called Sequestration. In essence, all government agencies would “trim the fat” and reduce needless spending, cut labor costs by requiring employees to only work 32 hours a week, and hiring freezes, among many other measures.

But not the Department of Homeland Security. Check out  Solicitation Number HSCEMS-13-R-00006. This is for a five-year contract for Sig Sauer firearm parts. And can you guess what ammunition size it fires? That’s right – .40 S&W caliber.

No, Big Sis must have her toys and ammunition. In fact, she wants her toys – and the dollar amount kept SECRET!

Shhh… Don’t tell her, but we know how much she’s willing to pay. Actually, that is – how much The American Taxpayer is expected to pay for her toys.

Someone in the DHS Procurement office redacted, or attempted to conceal the dollar amounts, that the Government is willing for us to pay.

But thankfully, an incompetent Government employee made yet another mistake. Or was it a Freudian slip?

Below you will see a screen shot of part of the PDF file. You will also see that someone tried, miserably, to hide the dollar amount. And the amount should anger you.

Good work James.  You're a good bloodhound.  We - the taxpayers" need to know. I copied the dollar amounts so others can easily see it below:

Excerpted from article:  "At 4.5 Million dollars – that boils down to 5,630 weapons and 14,075 magazines.  In September, 2012, The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) requested the following:

LI 001, PISTOL, SIG SAUER E29R-40-BSS-DAK, 30, EA;
LI 002, RED GUN, SIG SAUER E29R-40-TRG-DAK, 10, EA;
LI 003, MAGAZINES, 229 40/357 MCGAR PHOSPHATE 12 ROUND, SIG SAUER P/N 342234624P, 100, EA;

That comes to 40 weapons and 100 .40 caliber / .357 caliber magazines. For a whopping price of $31,970.40 . . .  (more in the article link)
