Please Attend Thursday's Hearing
Please Call Speaker of the House Tom Leonard - Today
Please Call (or Email) Energy Policy Committee Members Plus Your State Rep - Before Thursday
#1 Please Attend Thursday
Our strength is in our numbers. We must show Lansing our opposition to SB 637 and SB 894 in every way possible, and one of those ways is by attending the hearing this week. Please attend if at all possible.
If you want to testify, bring 20 copies of your testimony to hand to the Committee Clerk before the hearing. Know that there may not be enough time for everyone to testify, so bringing copies of your testimony is very important. That way your testimony will be entered into the record regardless.
What: House Energy Policy Committee's Second Hearing on MI's 5G Streamlining Bills (SB 637 & SB 894)
When: Thursday, October 4, 2018, beginning at 8:00 AM
Where: Capitol Building, 100 N. Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI, Third Floor, House Appropriations Committee Hearing Room
(NOTE: This is not the committee's regular meeting place or day. Thursday's hearing is taking place across the street from the Anderson House Office Building in the Capitol Building because Representative Gary Glenn, Chairman of the committee, wanted to honor the 30-day notice he had promised us, which put the hearing on a Thursday.)
When you arrive, please fill-out a card stating your opposition to SB 637 and SB 894. Cards should be in the hallway outside the hearing room. If you want to testify, check the box on the card indicating so.
Possible Committee Vote Thursday
A bill has to be in a chamber (Senate or House) for five days before it can be voted on. SB 637 and SB 894 have been in the House committee for well over five days, so all it will take to bring these bills to a vote in the committee this coming Thursday is for one of the representatives on the committee to make a motion to that effect. Chances are good that will happen.
Possible House Floor Vote Thursday
Representative Tom Leonard is Speaker of the House. He can call these bills up for a vote on the House Floor the very same day they pass out of committee, which is why it is critically important that Rep. Leonard hear from us!
#2 Today, please...
Call Speaker of the House Representative Tom Leonard's office at (517) 373-1778
Suggestion to Say: I am a Michigan (state all that is true: resident / voter / taxpayer / property owner / precinct delegate / elected official) and I am asking Representative Tom Leonard to NOT call a floor vote on SB 637 and SB 894 EVER.
These bills strip me and all Michigan residents of our rights to health, privacy, and property.
There's been no long-term testing with millimeter wave technology proving safety.
I do not want small cell towers in public right of ways.
Thank you!

#3 Before Thursday
All of the representatives on the House Energy Policy Committee need to hear from us about why we oppose SB 637 and SB 894. If you are unable to attend Thursday's hearing or will not be submitting testimony, please contact Energy Policy Committee members before Thursday.
In case these bills pass the committee and reach the House floor and are called up for a vote on Thursday, please let your state rep know your opposition to these bills also. You can find information about who represents your district and/or get their contact information HERE.
Phone calls carry more weight than emails, however if you are unable to make 19 phone calls to Energy Policy Committee members (plus one to your state rep) before Thursday, please send them all an email. The list of Energy Policy Committee email addresses to copy and pas
