Kind of hate to bring it up, BUT; the ballpoint pin was patented by Bíró filed a British patent on 15 June 1938. They fled to Argentina . In 1941, the Bíró brothers and a friend, Juan Jorge Meyne, fled Germany and moved to Argentina, where they formed Bíró Pens of Argentina and filed a new patent in 1943. It may well have been close to impossible for a dutch girl to get one and write in her diary before 1944. Just to set the record as straight as possible. I don't quite buy the whole story myself. But the arguments, both ways, should fit reality.
