A California Highway Patrol officer has been arrested and charged with raping a 12-year-old girl, authorities said.
Michael Richard Joslin, 35, was arrested Monday after the girl’s mother called the pastor of a local church on Sunday to allege that Joslin has been molesting the girl for roughly one year, according to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Joslin’s home in Pioneer after receiving those allegations and learned that Joslin had already left the residence for his father’s home in Placer County. An emergency protective order was then obtained for the young victim and other members of her immediate family, sheriff’s officials said.
Joslin was later arrested on charges of oral copulation with a minor under 14 by means of force or fear, penetration with a foreign object of a minor under 14 by means of force or fear, rape by means of force or fear, lewd acts with a child under 14 by means of force or fear, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Joslin is expected to return to court Monday for a bail hearing, according to KTXL.
