In July, the Summer of 2010, over 1 million gallons of tar sand oil were spilled msnbc
into the Kalamazoo River in the Kalamazoo/Calhoun County area, including Marshall, Battle Creek, and Talmidge Creek.
John Bolenbaugh was an employee of Enbridge and he was being paid (a handsome wage) to clean up oil. John was fired when he refused to COVER UP OIL with mud, leaves, grass, etc. John continues to expose and document on video tape, the lie that is BIG OIL. For this he has had death threats, damaged brake lines and tires, and constant threats of legal action.
Several people in the Calhoun County area are extremely ill with seizures, serious lung disorders, and much more. http://www.youtube.co/user/johnBolenbaugh

THE BIG PICTURE AND TAR SAND OIL
Keystone XL Pipeline Controversy
While Big Oil, Labor, and Energy Department contemplate Big Bucks, the environmentalists are having nightmares imagining what an oil spill from these horrible, hazardous tar sands would look like. They don't have to imagine very far. They need only stop in to check out the Kalamazoo River to see what a one million gallon oil spill near a Great Lake, in this case, looks like.

Both of these last two articles are older ones but thought it maybe interest if not posted already,if they were my apologies.

It may be a non-binding amendment, but a Senate vote last Friday that passed 62-37 in favor of the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline is more than a little concerning. The proposed pipeline would transport tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf States—and while the southern portion of the line is reportedly halfway finished, many continue to speak out, protest and even attempt to blockade further construction of a pipeline that would serve minimal economic benefit while inflicting irreparable harm on the environment. The bipartisan vote, which occurred as an amendment to a budget resolution, demonstrates the support the pipeline has within government, while highlighting just how much sway oil industry money continues to have on politicians across party lines.

The Keystone XL Pipeline has been firmly established as North America’s biggest environmental battleground, but another major battle is forming in Bristol Bay, Alaska over the proposed Pebble Mine, a massive gold and copper mine that has the potential to wipe out half the world’s remaining wild sockeye salmon. And like the Keystone pipeline, President Obama will have the final say on whether construction will move forward. The sprawling open-pit mine would decimate vital salmon streams, and commercial fishermen, environmental organizations and native tribes are all voicing their opposition to the mine.
I thought this maybe of interest, also.

My pleasure to help spread the word, Denise Joy.
I was not sure if I had even come close, I was fighting traffic and trying to listen at the same time.
It is truly a shame that people are predictable, greedy and pompous.
As I was driving home today I had the radio tuned into NPR. I heard for the first time a news report on the tar sand oil. I was appalled.
I had not heard a word about what had taken place before today.
Today i learned that within a 16 hour period in July of 2010 over a million gallons of tar sand oil with the consistency of peanut butter with an additive (I think hydrocarbons) to make it flow-able through a defective pipe line that allowed it to leak into the ground surrounding the line. With operators that ignored the warnings of equipment and twice turned the pipe line back on during the 16 hour period of time. All the while the programed equipment telling them that there was a problem. They claimed that there was a bubble in the line and that if they increased the pressure it would squeeze the bubble out of the line and the alarms would stop.
In effect once the tar sand oil was released into the environment it poisoned all of the water ways that it entered.
Only because of a conciseness utility work was the leak even noticed.
Now the EPA has spent over three quarters of a billion dollars to clean up an oil that has never been dealt with before, and can not be seen on top of the water because of its consistency when the additive evaporates it sinks to the bottom of the waterways because of its weight.
Is this even close to the truth?
Now I am understanding that they are wanting to build another pipeline to take the place of the one that malfunctioned to begin again piping this stuff to be refined.
Are they MAD?
ok i'm not here as a friend.....i live and work in alberta.....and i'll gladly make good money here reclaiming tarsands than murder iraqi babies for my oil......btw good job stoping the pipline you retards......enjoy 200 oil, i know i will
