So the body takes it in more easily, and it substitutes for iodine in instances like enzyme co-factors. Displacing iodine and producing ineffective metabolic enzymes, it causes the equivalent of hypothyroidism. The lighter halogen displacing the heavier one also explains the lower IQ.</p>
