After a training exercise on the Eastern Shore, a military plane dropped a "practice bomb" onto a parking lot in Maryland, narrowly missing cars and citizens.

The incident occurred at Darlene’s Tavern in Sudlersville, Maryland on August 30, 2013 around 9p.m., surveillance video shows stunned patrons looking on as gray smoke billows from the parking lot.

According to eyewitness accounts, the bomb left a hole about two and a half feet deep and about two foot wide, the impact left debris riddled across the parking lot and narrowly missed citizens sitting on nearby picnic tables.

Tavern owner Darlene Hurley called police and a local bomb squad was sent in to investigate. They later recovered the bomb from the hole; Air National Guard later confirmed it was a fake.
