Who Is Watching the Watch Lists?
By SUSAN STELLIN

GOVERNMENTS wade into treacherous waters when they compile lists of people who might cause their countries harm. As fears about Japanese-Americans and Communists have demonstrated in the past, predictions about individual behavior are often inaccurate, the motivations for list-making aren’t always noble and concerns about threats are frequently overblown.

So it might seem that current efforts to identify and track potential terrorists would be approached with caution. Yet the federal government’s main terrorist watch list has grown to at least 700,000 people, with little scrutiny over how the determinations are made or the impact on those marked with the terrorist label.

“If you’ve done the paperwork correctly, then you can effectively enter someone onto the watch list,” said Anya Bernstein, an associate professor at the SUNY Buffalo Law School and author of “The Hidden Costs of Terrorist Watch Lists,” published by the Buffalo Law Review in May. “There’s no indication that agencies undertake any kind of regular retrospective review to assess how good they are at predicting the conduct they’re targeting.” http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/01/sunday-review/who-is-watching-the...

PAPERWORK ???  no paperwork needed!!  WE ARE ALL POTENTIAL TERRORISTS !!! FEMA report the only thing they cant get accurate numbers on is the risks of *civil disobedience and *terrorist threats ..   (  gee thanks alot 9 11)   .not sure what they tell you over there.. but over here they very open to what they watching ..  AND THAT EVERYTHING !! .  we are ALL on the list .. that is the point of the list !!   facebook alone has over 1 billion accounts .and that not including gun records or religious groups world wide .. .. I think those numbers are very flawed ...   that probably the ones assigned special case workers ..   that would make more sense ..  Buffalo law school  now off my list of places to get a lawyer from ...

US Stops Denmark’s Dress Shop Terrorist

by  | 18th, June 2008

FIRST they come for the dresses:

A Lolland dress shop owner has had a payment for six dresses made in Pakistan frozen by the US on fears that it is being used to support terrorism

The US government has taken the step of freezing a $205 payment from a Danish clothing boutique to a dress manufacturer in Pakistan, reports Berlingske Tidende newspaper.

Christa Møllgaard-Hansen, owner of Christabella’s in the town of Maribo on Lolland, routinely buys women’s clothing and shoes from around the world to resell in Denmark. But a recent purchase of six dresses from Pakistan for $205 was considered by the American authorities to be money going to support terrorists.

Suspect fashion.
