Councilwoman Jane Jegind (V) writes that if the police do not have the means to secure the postal distribution in Vollsmose, it's time to ask for assistance from the Armed Forces.
PostNord's decision to stop distributing mail with immediate effect, to the Odense suburb Vollsmose gets Jane Jegind, Councilwoman of the City and Culture Administration in Odense Municipality, all fired up.
She wants to bring in the Armed Forces in order to deliver the post.
- Now it's simply enough. This is Denmark we are talking about. If the police do not have sufficient funds, they may ask for special assistance from the Armed Forces. The question is, if it's not the best thing to do now, says Jane Jegind to Fyens Stiftstidende.
Minister of Transport, Ole Birk Olesen (LA), has written to the Postal Spokespersons of the parliament parties on Monday because of harassment and threats, all delivery of mail to Vollsmose is immediately terminated.
In the letter, the Minister of Transport writes that the reason is safety of employees, because people have been threatened when they have worked in the district.
He also writes that PostNord Denmark is in dialogue with the authorities to solve the problem.
