Four are charged in murder of transgender teen who had her eyes gouged out, genitals stabbed and bones dumped in a chicken coup

Some of Steinfeld's bones were found in a bag in a chicken coop, both her eyes were gouged out and she had been stabbed in the genitals

Briana Calderas, Andrew Vrba, Isis Chauer and James Grigsby have all been charged in connection with her death

The violence of the crime and the fact that Steinfeld was transgender have led some to wonder why the death is not being investigated as a hate crime

Four people, including the victim's girlfriend, have been charged in the death of a teenager whose burned body was found in southern Missouri.

James Grigsby, 25, of Houston, Missouri, was charged Monday with abandonment of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the death of Ally Lee Steinfeld, 17, who was born Joseph Matthew Steinfeld Jr.

Grigsby is being held without bond. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Steinfeld's girlfriend Briana Calderas, 24, and two 18-year-olds, Andrew Vrba and Isis Schauer, were earlier charged with first-degree murder and other counts.
