You can be arrested or, recently in the EU your internet can be just simply cut off by your ISP, FOREVER! How can this be possible? Every bit of information you download/upload from/to the internet on your computer is unencrypted which is very easy to be read by others. So that’s how they are spying on you. Here are just some common forms of spying on people:

ISP Spying The most biggest problem can be your local ISP (Internet Service Provider). Most European and Americans ISPs are spying on its users afterwards it sends reports to your local anti-internet criminal activity, anti-racism, anti-semitism, etc. This can be a very big problem for journalists or just for normal people that simply want to join a “controversial forum”.

Web-Hosting company spying Some web hosting companies are spying on its users, making logs with the users IPs and activities each time they  login.

Website spying Believe it or not but there are also big websites, blogs or even forums that are memorizing each and every IP visiting or interacting with their website.

Now comes the good part! There are many people out there fighting hard to keep the freedom of speech alive over the internet by protecting your identity. So you can become fully anonymous online using various ways.

ENCRYPTED BROWSERS XeroBank (costs money) This is browser that integrates itself in Firefox. It is capable of changing your IP and encrypting your data. You need Firefox installed.

TOR (free) Tor is similar to XeroBank but it is more efficient, used by many people and above all, it’s free! You need Firefox installed.

E-Capsule Private Browser (costs money) This is a stand-alone browser that automatically changes your IP and encrypts your data.

Standalone Software that can encrypt the traffic on your already installed browsers GPass (free) GPass is a software that can connect to its own servers or to Skype servers to encrypt your data. It can encrypt it for Internet Explorer, Firefox and other applications.

UltraSurf (free) This program is very easy to handle and its also very efficient. It changes your IP into an American IP. It can also encrypt your data for Internet Explorer. For Firefox encryption you need to download this plugin. Ultrasurf would be the best if it would allow upload of any type. Unfortunately you can’t even send an email or join a forum with Ultrasurf which makes it kind of useless. Ultrasurf its “read only”.

Freegate (free) Freegate is software that enables internet users from mainland China, Iran, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and United Arab Emirates, among others, to view websites blocked by their governments. The program takes advantage of a range of open proxies, which allow users to penetrate firewalls used to block web sites.

Freenet (free) Freenet is free software which lets you anonymously share files, browse    and publish “freesites” (web sites accessible only through Freenet) and chat    on forums, without fear of censorship.

HTTP Tunnel (free) HTTP Tunneling is a technique by which communications performed using various network protocols are encapsulated using the HTTP protocol, the network protocols in question usually belonging to the TCP/IP family of protocols. The HTTP protocol therefore acts as a wrapper for a covert channel that the network protocol being tunneled uses to communicate. JAP (free) JAP makes it possible to surf the internet anonymously and unobservably. If offers encryption and of course, IP change.

GTunnel (free) GTunnel is a Windows application that works as a local HTTP or SOCKS proxy server. After setting proxy to GTunnel in web browser or other Internet applications, the traffic will go through GTunnel and our server farm before it reaches its original destination. It offers encryption and IP change.

Your Freedom (free) Would you prefer to stay anonymous, that your IP address is not logged with every access to someone’s web page? Then look no further, you’ve found the solution! We can’t tell you for sure if Your Freedom encrypts your connection. You should have a look, test it yourself.

Relevant, Troy.

I read today about how a slew of R Governors had signed Internet tax laws for their states (sry, can't find the story at the moment or I'd link; TN is one of the States to do so, btw ) and how a push is on in the Senate to strengthen Internet taxes (yes, My Sen Alexander is very supportive of such a law; fuckr!)......coinkydink?

True, Amy. But, I'm an old salty dog who never learned the meaning of 'submission' nor 'surrender'.

"The State is not armed with superior wit or honesty, but with superior
physical strength. I was not born to be forced. I will breathe air after my own
fashion. Let us see who is the strongest." Henry David Thoreau

Thanks, Troy. I'll put that in a file ;)
