Marc Emery to be locked up for 5 years in Seattle: Prosecuter agrees American Marijuana laws are dangerous and wrong

By John McKay

I don’t smoke pot. And I pretty much think people who do are idiots.

This certainly includes Marc Emery, the self-styled “Prince of Pot” from Canada whom I indicted in 2005 for peddling marijuana seeds to every man, woman and child with an envelope and a stamp. Emery recently pleaded guilty and will be sentenced this month in Seattle, where he faces five years in federal prison. If changing U.S. marijuana policy was ever Emery’s goal, the best that can be said is that he took the wrong path.

As Emery’s prosecutor and a former federal law-enforcement official, however, I’m not afraid to say out loud what most of my former colleagues know is true: Our marijuana policy is dangerous and wrong and should be changed through the legislative process to better protect the public safety.

According to this guy, I'm an idiot. He indicts Marc Emery (also an idiot) then declares himself a hypocrite in the next paragraph. That's an idiot.
Yes it sure is. The irony that self declared non idiots spew is nothing more than entertainment for those of us who still have the ability to rub two brain cells together. Also, his statements (I think) would make for a great study on people who don't consume cannabis and ones who do. For his statement of idiocy just prove that people who tend not to consume cannabis are self righteous proclaimed idiotic "non idiots" that half the time, just to make people who do consume cannabis seem like the scum of the earth through spewing idiotic nonsense such his words from the article.
Just ... an envelope and a stamp?   Wish I had caught that  idiot sale on time !
Marc Emery contracts superbug in US prison‎ CTV.ca

Vancouver's so-called "Prince of Pot" has been diagnosed with a bacterial infection that's highly resistant to antibiotics while serving time in a U.S. prison.

Marc Emery's wife Jodie says the marijuana activist contracted Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) sometime between being locked up in Washington State and transferred to a facility in Mississippi.

A boil was discovered on Emery's back upon his arrival at the Yazoo City Medium Security prison, Jodie told ctvbc.ca., which then tested positive for MRSA.

"I am worried for him. Thankfully he's in a somewhat better prison right now and they're very concerned about MRSA and are doing everything they can to keep it in check," she said.

MRSA skin infections can cause complications such as blood, bone or lung infections if left untreated.

Outbreaks of MRSA have been common in prisons across the U.S. for years, spurring the federal government to release a set of MRSA management guidelines in April.

Jodie says the diagnosis is an unpleasant surprise with the couple's five-year wedding anniversary fast approaching on July 23.

"We're still both looking forward to that and hope that after his release we can spend the rest of our anniversaries together," she said.

Emery is due to be released on July 9, 2014.

His recent application to serve the remainder of his sentence in Canada was rejected. He can reapply for transfer in 2013.
