A Facebook group called “Armed With Pride” (AwP) is advertising an armed march on all 50 Capitols for the 4th of July. The corresponding Facebook page is owned by the Modern American Revolution (MAR).
AwP states: “We will be leading a PEACEFUL armed march (where the law permits) on July 4th 2013 from 9AM-5PM at all 50 state capitols. This event is for those that cannot make it to Washington, D.C. for Adam Kokesh’s march. This march will be open/concealed carry only in the states where the law allows and the rest of the states will be unarmed marches.”
At the time this article was written 151 people had confirmed they would attend the demonstration.
MAR is categorized on Facebook as a non-governmental organization (NGO). In their “About US” section, they claim “to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. (Mainly DOMESTIC). We are here to teach, train, and educate those whom wish to become better patriots.”
The latest proposed protest is referenced as a “distress call AND a call to action.” The goal of MAR is to facilitate the modern American Revolution and “prepare to take America back.”
This protest was inspired by Adam Kokesh’s recent announcement that he is initiating a march on Washington, DC on the same day. While speaking about the protest, Kokesh explained that “this is an armed revolt against the American government. Make no mistake about it.”
Advertised on Kokesh’s Facebook page , the march is described as: “On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then down Constitution Avenue to peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge.”
Kokesh goes on to say: “This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent.”
At the time this article was written 4,010 people had confirmed they would attend the march.
Cathy Lanier, chief of police for the DC area, explained that the protesters will be met with officers at the bridge.
Lanier said: “If you are coming here to protest government policy, great. We’re all for it. We’ll work with you. We’ll get you in and where you want to go. We’ll facilitate you moving in and around the city. If you’re coming here to break the law, then we’re going to take action.”
Kokesh claims he has coordinated the march with authorities to ensure peaceful protests. Kokesh said : “I will recommend that they do the best they can to honor their oaths and escort us on our route. Failing to provide that commitment to safety, we will either be informed that we will only be allowed up to a certain point where we would be arrested.”
This announcement has caused the alternative community to question its motives and tactics for restoring our Constitutional Republic.
Having Kokesh as a leader has also caused concerns to surface. Of his own volition, Kokesh admits to having suffered from severe bouts of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and having taken both pharmaceutical drugs and smoking marijuana to relieve the symptoms.
Although PTSD is the catch-all the US Armed Forces uses to describe and alleged as mentally ill all returning US veterans, Kokesh has recalled his issues with being amid a large crowd: “I didn’t feel comfortable getting drunk, and the crowds made me nervous. When dealing with crowds in Iraq, I was always armed and I always had someone watching my back, usually with a machine gun. A cardinal rule for interacting with crowds was to never let anyone get behind you. We had all heard the horror story of a Marine who was killed with his own pistol. When crowds got close around me I would often just leave one hand on my pistol and let my rifle dangle on the sling in front of me.”
Kokesh, like some other former US Marine, misrepresented his service to the public to gain both sympathy and accommodations. Knowing that the average listener of his show would not research his records while in the Armed Forces or speak to those who knew him, and these types simply continue the theater of belief which tugs at their audience because who would not support a US veteran who was a patriot protesting this current administration?
Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) stated that they “neither endorses nor is affiliated with” Kokesh’s march, which “is in direct conflict with” the group’s ban on “conduct or threats endangering the life, safety, and/or health of others.”
Although IVAW says Kokesh is no longer a member of the group, he once was. IVAW is purported to be aligned with the Muslim American Society (MAS) who is a “de facto arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the US.”
While MAS asserts that they are against terrorism, they recognize the jihad is the right of all Muslims by divine authority and should be used in defense of themselves and their people.
Common place to crowds are planted provocateurs working with the federal government to ensure that an incident occurs. Hal Turner was one such patsy. Considering the context of an armed protest, it would be advantageous for the opposition to have an instigator join the crowd in order to entice protestors to engage in violent behavior utilizing the psychology of mob mentality , combined with the nature of the demonstration.
Arguments abound on how the alternative community feels toward this coming display of force and intention toward the US government. Of course, those who want to restore the Constitutional Republic are divided by this march because it brings to the surface those hopped up on testosterone and gives those self-professed leaders of the movement a justification for rallying up the “troops”.
However, a sensible approach to confronting the enemy may not be announcing your intentions months ahead of the protest so that they have time to coordinate against you.
In 2003, a similar tactic was used as part of the theater of war when former President George W. Bush announced to the world that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had 48 hours to leave Iraq before the US Armed Forces would attack.
Militarily speaking, it is not smart to alert the enemy of your intentions, nor is it advantageous to strike hap-hazard with the intention of stirring up the hornets’ nest out of frustration.
Agitating the already agitated is not hard. This march speaks to the frustration of those who have “woken up” to the reality of how our country has been hijacked by technocrats and psychopaths. However, bringing a knife to a gun fight is not the answer. It will ensure that many are demonized which will cause a reaction throughout the crowds of people who did not attend.
And perhaps that is the point. After all, that is the first stage of the Hegelian Dialectic: Problem – Reaction – Solution.
