Minnesota North Star TEA Party Patriots to Hold Historic Judicial Town Hall
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (September 24, 2010) – North Star
Tea Party Patriots, a recently announced coalition of Tea
Party groups in Minnesota, will hold a Judicial Town Hall in Monticello MN Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 at 7pm - 9pm. (map) The forum will be held in the city
council chambers of Monticello otherwise Known at the
Mississippi Room.
Candidates will give brief Biographies and then field
questions from the Moderator Attorney Marjorie Holsten.
13 of the 24 candidates seeking election to the open seat in Court 3 of
Minnesota’s 10th Judicial District have confirmed their participation in the
forum. The race is the most widely contested judicial election in the state.
The vast majority of judicial incumbents will go unchallenged this November.
To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first Judicial Forum of this type in the history of the State of Minnesota.
It comes in the wake of several legal victories by
contested judicial election advocate and Minnesota Supreme Court Candidate Greg Wersal, attorneys seeking election to the
bench in Minnesota have greater latitude than
they have in the past to express their views on
legal and political issues.
As a result of these suits, the US Supreme Court
has struck down many restrictions that Minnesota
previously placed on Candidates for Judge.
The Minnesota Tenth Judicial District includes the Minnesota Counties of Wright,
Washington, Sherburne, Pined, Kanabec, Isanti, Chisago, Anoka. These Counties
respective County Seats are, Buffalo, Elk River, Pine City, Mora, Cambrige,
Center City, Anoka.
Minnesota North Star Tea Party Patriots hopes to provide voters
in the 10th District the opportunity to cast their ballot as informed
as possible.
