DAVIS - One student has been tased and arrested after demonstrators threatened to block portions of Interstate 80 in Davis Thursday afternoon.
About 200 students were demonstrating on a road near Interstate 80. Several dozen police officers in riot gear are standing face-to-face with the demonstrators. Some reports suggest demonstrators are threatening to block the freeway.
A FOX40 reporter on-scene says police used tear gas and rubber pellets in an attempt to control the situation on Old Davis Road. One student, identified by the Sacramento Bee as Davis student Laura Mitchell, was tazed and arrested.
Many students have since left the Old Davis Road area. Local police and CHP officers have shut down an off ramp of westbound Interstate 80 near Mace Boulevard.

Students and teachers are holding rallies across the state, including in Sacramento at the Capitol Building, to protest against student fee increase and dramatic cuts in education funding by state lawmakers.
