US woefully unprepared for major sun storm – report

Published time: December 13, 2014 16:19

A study by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claims up to 100 million Americans could lose electrical power in the event of a magnetic space storm, which would knock out the electric grid and cause other infrastructure to fail.

An internal fact sheet in 2012, from the just-released DHS’ Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), noted that the damage and impact from a future solar storm isn’t known.

Space weather means conditions on the sun, in space, the upper atmosphere or in the earth’s magnetic field that can impact technological systems on the ground and endanger human life on earth.

I think we've heard this over and over again...if anything serious were to happen no one will be paying attention.

Posted this because i think it was noteable that this report says black on white that some 10 million people will be considered expendable i don't think it takes a genius to figure out who these people are and their geographical locations. Let's take a look at Katrina it would be considered nothing comparred to 2-3-4 direct hits of G-5 CME bursts the total number of affected for such an event would probably be 200-300 million americans alone. 2-3 days without electricity and clean water and junk food......watch the sheeple apocalypse unfold.

Have in mind most people nowadays aren't capable of even finding or purifying water. Determine if food is still edible or even identifying simple plants, mushrooms, fish or birds. TV and learning institutions surely has taught people well.

Take care

But that poll failed to mention that out of the 1204 people asked only 6 of them actually knew where the conflict zone is and Falafel isn't the capital of Iraq.

I will really hope that no american is counting on help from any government institution once hell breaks loose nor rely on surviving on a 15 year supply of MRE's. :-)

All for it..... only problem is there is no many things to do...it's a pretty big job alone just slaughtering a cow..then comes preserving the meat...not to mention all the nice sausages there has to be smoked and so on :-) Big task making the charcoal for the grill as well.

Yeah i know what you mean maybe all too well, just because they're family or friends doesn't necessarily makes them smart or fit for survival....

I love beef.... Hereford, Jersey, Limousine....my stomach bids them all welcome.

Yes i wouldn't have a problem with wild dogs, coyote, fox or whatever. May i recommend horse, rabbit and hare?
