Washington D.C., October 16, 2009 - Today, the Politico reports that the Obama administration and senior Senate Democrats collaborated with health industry lobbyists to formulate a million dollar advertising campaign to help gain support for its health care reform proposal.
According to the story, aides from both the White House and the office of Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and industry lobbyists created groups like Americans for Stable Quality Care and Healthy Economy Now to pay millions for television ads supporting the President's health care reform efforts.
"The insurance industry has been lobbying for mandated coverage for decades," said John Tate, President of Campaign for Liberty, "and this administration is seeking to give them the gift of a public legally required to purchase their product, while trying to convince Americans that it's in their best interest."
Revelations about this collaboration comes as a surprise from the Obama administration, whose campaign repeatedly criticized the previous president's close ties to corporate interests.
