Eight members of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus sent a letter to Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page seeking answers to privacy questions and concerns surrounding Google’s photo and video-equipped glasses called ‘Google Glass’. The panel wants to know if the high tech eyeware could infringe on the privacy of Americans. Google has been asked to respond to a series of questions by June 14. Throughout history technology has been both the best friend, and the worst enemy of humanity, creating both abundance and destruction depending upon how it was used and applied.  In today’s world as our tools become more complex and powerful, it is becoming even more noticeable that technology has the ability to either set humanity free or create an even more oppressive environment than we currently experience.

Some aspects of our developing technological world are very promising.  3D printing has the ability to create abundance, crypto-currencies have the ability to break central bank monopolies and new agricultural and water purification systems can end hunger.  However, there are also many aspects to this burst in technological advancement that leave some cause for concern, especially big brother spy technology, weapons and militarized technology, and transhumanism.

Many people believe that brain implants and merging humans with machines is nothing but science fiction.  However, this is a very real goal for some of the most powerful people in the tech industry, especially the executives at Google.

“When you think about something and don’t really know much about it, you will automatically get information,” Google CEO Larry Page said in Steven Levy’s book, “In the Plex: How Google Thinks, Works and Shapes Our Lives.” Eventually you’ll have an implant, where if you think about a fact, it will just tell you the answer.”

Vint Cerf, Google’s chief Internet evangelist spoke with CNET about Google Glass this past may  told CNET in May that “You begin to see what can happen with a computer in the sensory environment you are in. It’s the early days of this thing. By 2014, we should have a good idea of what people will want to do with Glass.”[2]

There has recently been a massive propaganda campaign underway in mainstream media outlets, to promote the idea of implantable microchips.  Recently one article in Scientific American featured the title “Brain Implant Could Enhance Our Senses”.  According to the article experiments are being conducted with lab rats to test how implantable brain chips can help enhance certain senses.

Not everyone is convinced by such claims though, there are actually far more negative consequences involved with implantable microchip technology than there are benefits.  In many cases malignant tumors have developed in people as a result of radio signals constantly flowing through their body to an implanted microchip.

Anyone who has a chip implanted will have all of their medical, financial and personal information reviewed and controlled by the corporations that develop the technology and the political organizations that run the database.  These groups have rolled out massive public relations campaigns to promote this program, using the mainstream media which they own and control.  Advocates for verichip implementation have been on various news programs praising RFID technology and suggesting that the public have these chips implanted in their newborn children for “safety” purposes.
