CNET is reporting that "A Senate proposal touted as protecting Americans' e-mail privacy has been quietly rewritten, giving government agencies more surveillance power than they possess under current law."

If that wasn't enough to disturb the masses, one of the agencies is none other than the Federal Reserve Bank which is a private institution with no oversight by any government officials. The bill conveniently refers to them as an “independent regulatory agency” ...
