Tuesday, June 04, 2013 11:20 AMIn case you needed further evidence that the White Hats are losing the war on cybercrime, a six-year-old so-called Trojan horse program that drains bank accounts is alive and well on Facebook.
Zeus is a particularly nasty Trojan horse that has infected millions of computers, most of them in the United States. Once Zeus has compromised a computer, it stays dormant until a victim logs into a bank site, and then it steals the victim’s passwords and drains the victim’s accounts. In some cases, it can even replace a bank’s Web site with its own page, in order to get even more information– such as a Social Security number– that can be sold on the black market.
The Trojan, which was first detected in 2007, is only getting more active.

think you james for telling me this;i think this is what they tryed to do to me 3 weeks ago!
How do you identify it and what app or action loads it in the first place, putting the story out there with no solution is a bit short sighted.
Avast anti-virus is free and good, pair it with Comodo firewall (free) with HIP's turned on to safe mode, firewall turned to custom setting.
malbytes,(malware) and Comodo(virus) do nicely for free chit
http://www.malwarebytes.org (look 4 free version)
Note: when installing it, you will of course go thru clicking a bunch of "OK's", the end one will have 3 check boxes- Free trial,Updates, & Start...uncheck the "Free trial" one so the trial timer isnt started (think its 30 or 60 days)
After the install and updates, you will have a free version, albeit a "manual" version (Pay version cleans automatically, only diff)
IMO, beats the hell outta spybot jimbo, & finds stuff that hi-$ norton doesn't seem to catch
repeat virus-clean biz has been cut 2/3's actually...WTF was I thinking???...dohhhh
I actually use MS Essentials for AV (its free), that thing kicks a trojans ass in milliseconds
When I clean PC's I usually use a battery of scanners, MalwareBytes is good. Also Comodo Killswitch offers tools to find startup items, monitor network connections etc. (free)
yeppers, usually stick the comodo and their chrome-based comodo browser along w/ Malwarebytes on most peoples stuff....great free stuff ;)
I have the Trend Micro Platinum coverage I assume this works just as well as other suggested here?
Not familiar with it Dave, is it finding stuff??...Computer running ok?? may want to compliment that w/ a malware program such as the above mentioned. ya can always try it and see if it finds anything ;)
Gotta love the Hotel Califacebook (You can check out any time You like but You can never leave)...
Yup. VERY glad I never checked in.
