Heavily Worn Standing Liberty Quarter Minted Between 1916 to 1930 with Unreadable Date

Do you have some older US silver looking coins you want to know about? Or, do you want to invest in circulated US silver coins as an investment or hedge in these uncertain economic times? Well, here are the most common US silver coin series, their dates minted, and approximate silver weights in troy ounces for each common US coin. If you want to figure out the spot silver value per coin multiply the spot price per ounce on my Price & Charts page x the amount of silver in the coin. For example, say spot silver is $28.25 an ounce a 1966 Kennedy Half dollar would be worth $28.25 x .1479 = $4.18. Remember, a scrap silver dealer will usually only pay you around 70-75% of spot silver price. They are in business to resell.

Five (5) Cent Wartime Nickels Minted 1942 to 1945 .350 fine or 35% silver - .05626 ounces pure silver each

Ten (10) Cent Roosevelt 1946-64, Mercury 1916-45, Barber 1892-1916 dimes are .900 fine or 90% silver and most commonly seen – .07234 ounces pure silver each

Twenty-Five Cent Washington 1932-64, Standing Liberty 1916-30, Barber 1892-1916 Quarters .900 fine or 90% silver most commonly seen – .18084 ounces pure silver eachFifty Cent Kennedy 1964 only, Franklin 1948-63, Walking Liberty 1916-47, Barber 1892-1916 Half Dollars are .900 fine or 90% silver and most commonly seen –.36169 ounces pure silver each. Also, Kennedy Half Dollars dated 1965-70 are .400 fine or 40% silver – .1479 pure silver.

One dollar Morgan 1878-1921, Peace 1921-35 Silver Dollars are .900 fine or 90% silver and most commonly seen – .77344 ounces pure silver each. Also, 1971S, 1972S, 1973S, 1974S and 1976S Eisenhower Dollars are .400 fine or 40% silver and most commonly seen – .3161 ounces pure silver.

Many of these coin series are sold in $5, $10 and larger face value silver lots on eBay. You can buy $100 and up face value junk silver bags on eBay as well. You can view some of these lots below. But be careful, if you are selling your coins, some of your coins may have numismatic or collector value because of scarce dates, high grade condition, errors or type variations. 1921 Mexican 72% Silver Peso Coin Containing .3856 oz Pure Silver

This is the next article on circulated silver for investment or hedge in uncertain economic times. Some people believe investing in foreign or world silver and gold coins is better because the government cannot confiscate them in times of crisis and instability. This time we will focus on our friends to the south Mexican or Mexico 10% to 90% pure silver coins minted from 1901 to 2003. These include dimes 10 cents, quarters 25 cents, halves 50 cents and dollars one 1 dollar. Well, here is the most common Canadian or Canada silver coins, their dates minted, and approximate silver weights in troy ounces.

If you want to figure out the spot silver value per coin multiply the spot price per ounce on my Price & Charts page x the amount of silver in the coin.
