Used to think I had something special to bring That I was seeing what others weren't seeing The misery of my own ego that was blinding My assumed brilliance of my findings,
Funny how life will wear you down It can make you wear a frown Take a look in the mirror and see the real clown Then you realized you’d married the witch in a gown,
Among other realizations that made you see Your decisions weren’t they were meant to be Entrapped by what you thought would set you free But there was no one around to offer tea and sympathy,
Yet, that was fine it never crossed your mind You were like a Kamikaze in line Self-sacrificing all the time Never intimidated by the fact you were on an uphill climb,
Perhaps you should have subscribed to a new paradigm And when unpredictable fate turned on a dime You were at the scene of your own crime Waiting impatiently for the impossible to align,
A life of self-imposed damage control You playing that victimized role Your detractors only hastened the toll Perhaps you lost sight of your goal,
Youth heals fast so you rinse and repeat Watch as the ground trembles beneath your feet Plagued all the while by the ghosts of deceit Sadly my friend you never admitted defeat,
The clock ticks on and you’re like a pawn Some might say you’re the Devil’s spawn Did you ask why you never created a lasting bond? Still bleeding from epiphanies gone wrong,
These thoughts deep in the night gnaw at you Living life like you never had a clue Losing battles with your fantasy in full view Is this what’s left when you have to pay your dues?
Forgive me for what I’ve done God knows I never killed anyone Never robbed anyone using a gun Perhaps it was all the little things under the sun.

That I was seeing what others weren't seeing
The misery of my own ego that was blinding
My assumed brilliance of my findings,
Funny how life will wear you down
It can make you wear a frown
Take a look in the mirror and see the real clown
Then you realized you’d married the witch in a gown,
Among other realizations that made you see
Your decisions weren’t they were meant to be
Entrapped by what you thought would set you free
But there was no one around to offer tea and sympathy,
Yet, that was fine it never crossed your mind
You were like a Kamikaze in line
Self-sacrificing all the time
Never intimidated by the fact you were on an uphill climb,
Perhaps you should have subscribed to a new paradigm
And when unpredictable fate turned on a dime
You were at the scene of your own crime
Waiting impatiently for the impossible to align,
A life of self-imposed damage control
You playing that victimized role
Your detractors only hastened the toll
Perhaps you lost sight of your goal,
Youth heals fast so you rinse and repeat
Watch as the ground trembles beneath your feet
Plagued all the while by the ghosts of deceit
Sadly my friend you never admitted defeat,
The clock ticks on and you’re like a pawn
Some might say you’re the Devil’s spawn
Did you ask why you never created a lasting bond?
Still bleeding from epiphanies gone wrong,
These thoughts deep in the night gnaw at you
Living life like you never had a clue
Losing battles with your fantasy in full view
Is this what’s left when you have to pay your dues?
Forgive me for what I’ve done
God knows I never killed anyone
Never robbed anyone using a gun
Perhaps it was all the little things under the sun.
