Troubled Atmosphere

They suspect a man’s whose hair is too long

They despise women who are strong

The same old bigoted song

My how prejudice is prolonged,

Living in a sea of impulses that are deadly

The guilty prosper as the innocent flee

Just another slippery slope to ski

Wondering why they’re staring at me,

This troubled atmosphere

The truth is muddled and unclear

Evil creates martyrs who die too near

While zombies at the sports bar have another beer,

Forgive me if I don’t buy into the game

Your shameless lies and excuses all the same

Peace occurs only sporadically when the lions are tame

But, once again the radicals will stake their bloody claim,

The sea is always calm before the storm

While they attempt to attack what we know as the norm

Violent protesters will swarm

Like some kind of hostile alien life forms,

We’ve come to accept that this might happen

It’ll be a rough ride better strap in

There’s mental illness upon the land

It’s been nurtured with convoluted plans,

Whatever happened to my life?

My noble intentions extracted as if by surgical knife

Grabbed and pulled into the strife

Simply abandoned by another wife.
