Existing Blindly

I wish I could glue on a different pair of eyes to see

This world differently

But I can’t you see

Thanks to the bitter reality,

All those things that happen to the innocent

So little seems heaven sent

Thanks to oppressive governments

Where truth becomes defined as dissent,

A time when I was so foolish and so young

When so many heroes went unsung

The women I loved a little too high strung

Tolerating the fools l lived among,

The illusions that swirl around your head

Making you feel like you’re better off dead

But you must choose to live instead

Sometimes saying nothing is better than what’s said,

Peeling off the eyes with which I see

Nothing left to obstruct me

At last am I really free

Am I better off existing blindly?
