Whatever Happened?
The unsung heroes will go about their day
Regardless of the welcome they've overstayed
It's just the price that they will pay
The unsung hero forgotten on any given day
Looking in the mirror at a lonely reflection there
Like a solemn ghost seen at the top of the stairs
The unsung hero the isolation more than he can bare
The unsung heroes who really cares?
Whether it be on the battlefield or parenthood
It’s on the proper side of wrong and right he stood
Despite the hardship be did what he could
But, not everything in this world happens as it should,
Even when you’ve done it right there’s a slippery slope
The lines are blurred like the darkness in which you grope
He hung on while all others would have lost hope
Dealing with a material world of lies in order to cope,
Whatever happened to a hero’s welcome on the streets?
It seems all the sheep are obsessed with defeat
Minds indoctrinated as if covered with embedded concrete
If you seek the truth better take a seat,
Isolation seems to be the universal choice
For the unsung hero little chance to rejoice
Standing up to an evil spirit’s voice
Do you wonder why his eyes are getting moist?
I never ran out on you
But you left me with a tainted view
Yet, somehow my memories are all askew
You don’t have to ask why I’m feeling blue,
Where are the rewards for standing tall?
Not allowing loved ones to fall
Responding to the valiant call
Losing love, family, and all,
Unsung heroes bleed out slow
Good deeds are few and far below
Bloody footprints of Continental soldiers in the snow
Sorry if the ,love I gave didn't show.
