VOTE

As the month draws to a close and we look ahead to the November elections, I want to remind you of the importance of voting. Yes, the church needs to pray. Yes, the church needs to proclaim the gospel. But the church also needs to vote. We may not be of this world, but we are living in it. And as long as we’re here, we are called to be light and salt in this world. Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? … Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father” (Matthew 5:13, 16 NLT). As we look at our country and the path we’re on, it’s clear that we need to turn back to God. We need to pray for the United States of America and specifically for a spiritual revival. And while we know that no politician can singlehandedly change our nation, we also know they can make a significant difference—for good or for bad. America just might be at the edge of revival! That’s why we need to vote in every election. Romans 13:11 reminds us, “This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed” (NLT). As Christians, it’s time for us to wake up and make our voices heard. It’s a critical time for our nation.
