"Since you are continuing this destructive policy, we warn you that you cannot make us fight against our brothers. We refuse to stand against our parents, our brothers, our children or any citizen who protests and demands a change of policy," said the union, which represents more than two-thirds of Greek policemen.
"We warn you that as legal representatives of Greek policemen, we will issue arrest warrants for a series of legal violations ... such as blackmail, covertly abolishing or eroding democracy and national sovereignty.
LETS systems allow members to buy goods and services through offering the seller an IOU (which is what a cheque is). The seller then has a credit balance to use to purchase whatever they want from within the system. The buyer has a debit balance and is expected to trade their way out of that debt in time. The total of all the debit balances equals the total of all the credit balances. No interest is charged on debts nor is interest given on credit balances. People are expected to trade back and forth. The 'money' or credit is issued in exactly the right amount to cover the production created within the system. This money is created at the same time as an article or service (wealth) is sold. Therefore it cannot be inflationary.
It is necessary for this credit to be denominated in the nation's currency to make it easy for businesses to incorporate trading in the LETS system without having to run two sets of books. LETS units are treated exactly like ordinary currency for bookkeeping, management accounting and taxation purposes. There's no difference and this is exactly what we want; to expand the nation's money supply, legally! Money, in the form of credit, is legally created by the members of the system when they give IOU's to each other for goods or services. IOU's are entirely legal. IOU's are created, exchanged and cancelled in a multi-member double entry bookkeeping system just the same as happens with a bank. The result is added wealth production and trade for the community without the costs and control imposed by the banks.http://www.winterpatriot.com/node/681

Greece reaches austerity deal
February 9, 2012, 6:14 a.m.
Greece has reached a tentative agreement on new austerity cuts demanded by creditors to release a (euro) 130 billion ($173 billion) bailout, hours before a crucial meeting of finance ministers in Brussels, Prime Minister Lucas Papademos' office said Thursday.
A spokeswoman said the agreement with the majority Socialists and the conservatives will allow alternative cuts to those rejected early Thursday during a marathon meeting of the three coalition party leaders. No details were available on what alternative measures would be chosen.
The spokeswoman spoke on customary condition of anonymity.
Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank, confirmed the latest stage in the austerity talks, telling reporters at a press conference in Frankfurt, Germany that the Greek party leaders had accepted the terms of the deal. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek riot police have fired tear gas at hundreds of anti-austerity protesters who tried to break a cordon outside Parliament.
No arrests or injuries were reported after Tuesday's clashes, during a demonstration by Greece's two biggest labor unions against new harsh cutbacks demanded to avoid the country's looming bankruptcy.
Police said up to 8,000 people took part
Some 30,000 people took to the streets in Athens in commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the ultra-right junta of the "Black Colonels" on Thursday, police said.
Several demonstrations in Athens poured together and joined one mass peaceful demonstration against Greece's government decisions on austerity measures to receive loans from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.
The protestors were marching toward the U.S. Embassy because the ultra-left organization blames the United States for supporting the "Black Colonels" in their suppressing a university students' uprising on November 17, 1973. During the uprising in 1973, several youth were killed and thousands were injured. http://en.rian.ru/world/20111117/168797405.html
Anti-austerity protesters together with students, left wing groups and anarchists are expected to turn out in strength in the march on Thursday afternoon, Wall Street Journal reported.
Around 7,000 policemen are being deployed in Athens amid fears that the demonstration may turn violent.
The demonstration marks the anniversary of a bloody 1973 student uprising which helped topple a US backed army dictatorship that had ruled the country since 1967.
The demonstration come a day after Greece new interim government won a vote of confidence in a parliament.
Greece is in the midst of a debt crisis that is threatening the whole eurozone. The new interim government headed by Lucas Papademos, must ratify a bailout deal in three months to avoid a default and remain in the bloc.

If Americans were smart ... and their not, they would be buying gas masks after watching this.
LOL it's like the same thing every time I tune in, the people throw shit, the cops throw CS/CN cans and the people gain nothing.
@Poppi Dee- this is NOT what we need to do in America at all, how has it helped the Greeks?? the answer is to prepare your self for hard times, wake other people up and protest peacefully. This system is GOING TO COLLAPSE on it's own you don't need to help it along. We need to be the ones saying we told ya so and providing a solution, if we're not respectable (a bunch of rock trowing idiots) no one will listen and the sheeple will go with the globalist solution.
This is what we need to do in America, before it doesn't matter, like it doesn't matter there.
