Georgia governor signs law to drug test some welfare recipients
(Reuters) - Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed legislation on Tuesday requiring some applicants for food stamps and welfare benefits to undergo a drug test. Under the bill, testing could be required if authorities have a "reasonable suspicion" of drug use. A person failing the test would temporarily lose benefits, although their children could receive assistance through another adult. Drug use is a barrier to finding and keeping a job, Deal spokesman Brian Robinson said. What's sauce for the goose... How about them setting the example?
ie: Random blood tests while the legislators are in session (at least bi-monthly) AND pee in a cup before they vote.
We test 'on the job' for other professions; Surely our legislators have nothing to hide. If it is a good idea for everyone else, why would they mind proving it, using their own methods?
After all. some of their votes concern 'life or death' matters. They can do more damage to all of us with a pen, than a welfare recipient could do with ANY thing available to them!

If people are to be drug tested -if people choose to use them, and they are subsequently literally removed from the system and denied food and medical care, jobs, and all the other things we would deny them, then they should be ALLOWED to live outside the system without interference as long as they cause no trouble.
