Hu Jintao tells China navy: Prepare for warfare

(BBC News) – China’s navy should speed up its development and prepare for warfare, President Hu Jintao has said.

He told military personnel they should “make extended preparations for warfare”.

China is locked in territorial disputes with several other nations in the South China Sea. Political tension is also growing with the US, which is seeking to boost its presence in the region.

After Mr Hu’s comments, the US said China was entitled to defend itself.

“Nobody’s looking for a scrap here,” said Pentagon spokesman Admiral John Kirby in quotes carried by the AFP news agency.

“Certainly we wouldn’t begrudge any other nation the opportunity to develop naval forces.”

Senior US and Chinese officials are currently holding talks on military issues.

The one-day meeting takes places every year, with the stated aim of ensuring there are no misunderstandings between the two nations.

‘Sovereignty dispute’
China has recently acquired its first aircraft carrier and has been vocal about its naval ambitions.

But its military remains primarily a land-based force, and its naval capabilities are still dwarfed by the US.

Comment by Robert Edwards on December 8, 2011 at 6:22am: America is the largest exporter of arms in the world 35% and china is only 6% The US spend more on its military and it's military industrial complex than the rest of the world put together. Yet, the US has no threat on its borders - you tell me who the monsters is. 50% (or more) of the US tax dollar goes on its military complex while they continue to create more and more austerity measures hurting the poor, education, healthcare, the elderly, etc. Yet, the fat-cats sit in the luxury apartments and don't seem to give a dam for the disintegration of the American society. Now the people are scared to say anything, they are cowards, with no ethical or moral value to society.

Comment by Anthony Kimbrough on December 7, 2011 at 10:34pm: Maybe they are reading in advance just in case Israel or the US attacks Iran. Russia is ready and China is their buddy. I don't think there will be much of a war. It will be quick if they use EMP, Russian equipment by and large still use analog. They keep running while our expensive war toys stop. That ain't counting biological. Wonder what a trillion dollars worth of real estate equates to in Chinese currency? Oh yea, almost forgot, we get most of the ammo from China & Russia these days.

Read the book Unrestricted Warfare it completely outlines their war plan with the US. They know we cannot survive an EMP attack that with in 6 months one half to two thirds of our population would be dead. They know we have no food reserves and without electricity our systems would completly shut down. Even as we speak they are hardening their grid against EMP while we just talk

Last year a missile was launched off the California by a Chinese submarine that was able to penetrate undetected into the Santa Barbara Channel. Their Subs have stealth technology given by Clinton due to his ultra lax security at our most strategic facilities and even allowing the Chinese free access to these facilities. The Chinese have published a book called "Unrestricted Warfare" in which they describe in complete detail how they can destroy America in one day. In addition they have ships capable of transporting 800,000 fully equipped soldiers and they currently have Three of them. So pick up your gun were gonna have a whole lotta fun

And when American and NATO forces attack the sovereignty of other nations its called Humanitarian yet when those countries defend their sovereignty it called Terrorism... WAKE-UP Americans and stop drinking the Koolaid...
