The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has reversed a district court decision from 2011 which says that all White House visitor records are subject to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) disclosure requirements.
The case was brought to the court by Judicial Watch, a non-profit government watchdog seeking to force release of the White House visitor logs as public records.
President Obama began making partial White House visitor logs public in 2009, but has refused the Judicial Watch request for the full logs. Spokesmen in his administration say the partial release supports the president’s claim that he has “the most transparent administration in history.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton was extremely disappointed by the decision,
