Have you noticed all the national attention for Fox 19 News’ coverage of the IRS scandal? From CNN, Fox News, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, “The Hill” congressional newspaper and the Drudge Report?

The IRS story will continue to be a “daily priority” in the WXIX-TV newsroom after anchor Ben Swann leaves the station tonight, says news director Kevin Roach, a former Associated Press vice president. and director of U.S. Broadcast News.

Roach, hired in February, put together a team consisting of reporters Matt Nordin, Cory Stark, Jennifer Grove and executive producer Jason Scott to cover the story earlier this month, knowing Swann was heading out the door.

“It was exciting to see some folks step it up and reveal new elements of the story. It has created the kind of energy I like to have in the newsroom, where there’s a real sense of pride in what we’re able to do,” says Roach, the former Channel 9 assistant news director (2002-05) who did two stints as news director for Dayton’s Channel 2.
