DENVER - The woman accused of throwing an athletic shoe at Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas last week has connections to the Aurora shooting case, according to several reports.

Alison Ernst, 36, now of Phoenix, filed a motion for a restraining order against James Holmes and also appeared in court claiming Holmes is innocent, the New York Daily News reported on Friday.

Ernst's name appears in a legal document in the Holmes case in August 2012 that claims Philip Anschutz was behind the Aurora theater shootings. The document, filed in Arapahoe County Court, claimed Anschutz mind controlled Holmes to commit the crime to knock out an Anschutz competitor. In the court motion, the court and the media was directed to a "James Holmes is innocent" Facebook page.

However, Judge William Blair Sylvester ruled on Sept. 6, 2012,  that the motion was not filed by the "named victim" and threw out the motion, saying it was not a legitimate pleading. "It appears someone that someone may be filing pleadings with false names," the judge wrote.  It was not clear why Ernst's name was used in the document in the first place.  

Public records show she once lived in Colorado Springs in the 1990s.

She first came to attention in the Holmes case in 2012 when she stood up in a court hearing with a shaved head and said she had evidence of judicial misconduct by the public defender.

"I tried to deliver information vital to the defense of James Holmes to the public defender," said Ernst.

Two deputies grabbed her as she said, "It will do the victims' families justice to have this information."

Ernst later posted a federal court document asking for a preliminary injunction, saying she was seeking a restraining order against Holmes because she said,  "James enters my head like Dennis Quaid in 'Innerspace' and he zooms to my heart and plays with it and forces me to care for him," the document read. "I seek a restraining order to stop Holmes from entering my mind through subliminal messaging and causing me to be obsessed with him on a daily basis," the New York Daily News reported.

Ernst is due back in court on June 24 disorderly conduct charges related to the shoe-throwing incident in Las Vegas.
