A hunt is underway for the man, who follows his victims into retail stores and then distracts them by dropping something near them before striking with a sharp weapon, thought to be a razor or a box cutter. Police in the county of Fairfax, Virginia, have released security footage of the suspected slasher. The latest victim was an 18-year-old woman shopping inside a store on Monday when she heard clothes falling off a rack behind her. As she turned around she saw a man bending down to pick them up and then she felt a piercing pain in her buttocks, police said in a statement. She thought a hangar had struck her but then realised someone had slashed through her denim shorts, probably with a box cutter or razor, police said. Then teen suffered a 4cm wound. Police have linked the attack to four others in retail stores across Fairfax County since February. All the victims are females in their teens or early 20s. Former FBI profiler Gregg McCrary said the attacker may have a sexual disorder called piquerism, a form of sadomasochism in which he derives sexual gratification from stabbing or pricking other people, local ABC network affiliate NewsChannel 8 reports. Mr McCrary also said the attacks are likely to continue until the culprit is captured.
