An interesting snippet from world poetry day this year to learn of the first poet excited from the Roman Empire. The poor man was banished for life to Romania at the height of his writing career for penning verse of embarrassment to the ruling elite. The intriguing thing to note is that it was the Iranian speaking peoples who gave him shelter and rest.
