The 'bible' has been through many hands, many agenda's, and many translations. Along the way man was able to create a book, dogma, religion to control other men, thus controlling whole societies. That does not mean (to me) that there is no meaning to the words, proverbs and stories. I search "the mystery" of the writings when I read books of this nature understanding that the words of life are written on my heart before I was able to understand consciousness so I am able to see and find truth when it is there.

"Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourself every girl who has never slept with a man." (Numbers 31:17-18)  

"The Lord commands: "... slay old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women" (Ezekiel 9:4-6)

Bible stories should be taken with a pinch of Lot's wife.
