These flowers bloom on my balcony in Spain in July; the Latin name is Selenicereus Grandliflorus, commonly known as "Queen of the Night". At about 10" across, they open as the sun goes down and are miserably dead at dawn; their splendour gone forever. The answer is to observe their beauty, as we should all things beautiful, and to remember that however dark and ugly our world gets, it only proceeds from the MIND and beyond it that Beauty lives on regardless, in the God of our own soul!
