While odds for a recovery from the surgery she had are good, they go way up if the subsequent pathology report shows no cancer in the lymph nodes. On Friday, the court released a written statement saying there is no additional evidence of cancer.

"Her recovery from surgery is on track," court spokeswoman Kathleen L. Arberg said of the 85-year-old justice. "Post-surgery evaluation indicates no evidence of remaining disease, and no further treatment is required."

Tick Tock is right, look at her history. Pancreatic and Colon cancer. Both have high rates of metastatic spread.

She has no predisposing risks for a primary cancer of the lungs, so it is most likely a secondary metastasis. The tumors in her lungs were likely discovered on a chest CT taken during her rib fracture treatment. For them to have gone in and remove the lower lobe of her left lung instead of just taking out the nodes would indicate that they were large and fast growing.  If they were small, they likely would have been monitored over the next 6 months, especially considering her age.

This would indicate that she will be leaving soon.

Not a fan of hers, but given the vote is completely consistent with her past (non-medicated) voting record and her views, I can't see this as "her vote shouldn't count because she's in hospital", "she's getting too demented to think clearly" or the likes.

Obviously she doesn't want to retire right now because she knows she'd be replaced with someone holding views diametrically opposed to hers.

I disagree with many of her views (and think she SHOULD retire), but at least (unlike so many RINOs and DINOs) she stands for something other than "as much money into my pockets as possible" and does something about it.
