LAPD might give them a new truck ... but the courts are going to give them a hell of a lot more than that.

I have a CCL and carry. Do you have any idea what would happen to me if -I- made this "mistake"? I'd lose my house, lose my freedom and likely lose my wife.

Those cops should be charged immediately. This was no mistake ... this was a racially motivated hate crime and should be prosecuted as such. Those cops should have been able to tell the difference between one large Black man and two Asian women. 

Maybe the squad room should have an identification chart pointing out the differences between a large male and a small female and between an individual and a group of two or more.

And this is the sort of people DHS wants to militarize. Pathetic.

I see 46 numbered stickers ... and those are only the bullets that struck the truck. If you'll look at the right rear window, they weren't done with the numbering. Cops normally carry .40 or .45 Glocks with a maximum (stock) capacity of 13 rounds. Even allowing that they were carrying the 15 round 10 mm Glock 20SF, and every round fired hit its target, (shots along the roof line indicate that there were probably a number of complete misses) that means they reloaded twice. At what point does it click in their heads that "Hey, if that's Dorner, why no return fire?" Does anyone here want to tell me that it's okay for them to have fired 46 or more shots at a target that was not returning fire while reloading at least twice, without knowing their target? You NEVER fire without knowing your target ... even if you are only hunting deer -- and these officers were hunting a human.

This isn't simply stupid. This is criminal.

There are four fundamental rules of firearm use. These officers violated at least # 3 and #4 and cannot be trusted to possess a loaded firearm.

1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.

If their sights were on the target, they would not have hit either the roof line or the tailgate and they hit both.

     4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

"Sure" means to be certain ... it is an absolute condition with no gray areas. They were NEVER sure of their target ... in fact, the target was not even in this vehicle and this vehicle did NOT match the description of the vehicle they were looking for. Considering the volley of shoots fired in a city environment, you can be certain that these cowboys gave little thought to the possibility that their bullets might miss or pass through the intended target. The sheet metal on a vehicle won't stop even a .22 and these officers ought to have known this.
