A Confused Land
I can’t promise you anymore than today
As long as the hyper sonic missiles don’t go astray
It’s cold right now in the bed where I lay
If you could only listen to the things you say,
I’m trying to escape from melancholy
It’s a feat I can only manage temporarily
As the world grows more and more unsightly
Walking around in a confused land that used to be free,
The rain falls all around
As I listen to one clown after another clown
Admittedly, sometimes it gets me down
You see I’m only a creature who’s earthbound,
Afraid of being alone for eternity
It seems there is little in the way of certainty
God do you hear my silent plea?
I’m sure there are many more like me,
Seems I’ve tread upon forbidden ground
While others are getting their flesh pound for pound
Thought things might be okay today until I heard that sound
Then I watched as everyone around me came unwound,
It’s a cloudy day and that’s fine for me
The grayishness moves in like waves from the sea
Occasionally I just have to collapse on bended knee
Somehow I know I should look at life more joyfully,
Right now I’m looking at bare trees
Swaying in the cold icy breeze
Seems life has changed in varying degrees
If I could only get a word of encouragement please.
