Raymond Azar to be precise.
Ray's the construction manager for Sima International, a Lebanese firm that does contract work for the US military in Afghanistan.
Ray's a regular guy. Regular guys like you and me and even regular gals make mistakes. We expect to be treated fairly, innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz, and we all have an expectation that should we make a mistake, or should we actually break the law, that we'll be afforded the opportunity to face our accusers under cover of the legal system designed so that all of us are innocent until proven guilty.
It's a far from perfect system but it's all we have.
Not Ray. Ray was kidnapped by Obama. Ray wasn't charged as a terrorist because he wasn't a terrorist, he was a construction manager. He was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Bribery. That offense doesn't include the death penalty, or life in prison. You might be better off being charged like Ray than being charged for possessing Meth, or aggravated assault. The penalty for those things might mean some serious jail time.
Ray was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Bribery. That's a white collar crime.
Ray was kidnapped, stripped naked, hooded, and subjected to a body cavity search. They showed Ray a photo of his wife and four children and told him to confess or else he might “never see them again.” Ray confessed, and plead guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery. Then Ray was flown to Alexandria, Virginia.
Ray was shackled to an office chair for seven hours, put in an unheated metal shipping container and given only a thin blanket despite near freezing temperature, denied sleep and food for 30 hours, had his ears covered by earphones and blindfolded during his plane ride from Kabul, Afghanistan, to the U.S; court records indicate Ray was shackled at the ankles, waist, and wrists.
Ray's arrest was made by no fewer than 10 men wearing flak jackets and carrying military style assault weapons.
With some modifications, the Obama administration appears to be carrying forward the ugly practices of the Bush and Clinton imperial presidencies, hardly the “change” for which the American people had hoped. Unless you count “chump change.”
