Spent Mother's Day alone
In a world as cold as stone
Mom disappeared in the dead zone
Are these sins I should own?
Raising my kids with no mother there
Trying to minimize the despair
Mother’s Day without a care?
A holiday that should be shared?
Strange how the world turns
Problems of others not our concerns
Oblivious to what our heart yearns
Every one of us have all been burned,
Oh Mother if you could see me now
All this insanity and you wonder how
I remember your fevered brow
Took it for granted when you made us chow,
You were so beloved
You handled six boys with kid gloves
Protecting us all from the push and shove
Mothers like you not enough of,
Memories can be fond or sad
You were the best Mom a boy ever had
Despite the foolishness of this lad
You were the reason the family was glad,
Dear God, it’s not the same world today
So many mothers are running away
So many men choose not to stay
Children grow up in gloom and gray,
We had a mother we didn’t deserve
Did a great job of keeping the family preserved
Few women today would have the nerve
Mom you got the family around the curve,
All this praise that seems too late
Lord knows you did not deserve your fate
Thank God you had this family to create
Now you’ve passed through heaven’s gate.
