A Walk in the Park
Just a lonely man in the sun
All around a world coming undone
Where there is no guilt and decency is overrun
I’m feeling a little under the gun,
Tomorrow is promised to no one
An empty room not my definition of fun
Those unclean spirits you don’t want to summon
The burden of persistent memory weighs a ton,
I will go on to survive and live
Despite those angry lies that you give
The deception that empties like a sieve
Those repercussions you won’t outlive,
Somehow I lost the battle of love
The grand illusion happiness is made of
Supposedly soon you’ll rise above
In a dream I recovered a wounded dove,
When the lies hit hard in the depth of the night
Hard to vanquish those demons from my sight
When fire and brimstone become your plight
Perhaps I was a bit too forthright,
Can’t seem to fathom the entire scope
Left here to grieve on this slippery slope
You can hang yourself given enough rope
Or give a speech standing on a box of soap,
The damaged rudder of the ill-fated Bismarck
Sailing in circles upon the ocean at dark
Like a lonely life that has lost its spark
At first I thought it would just be a walk in the park.
